Bookmark — On the Mark

This library system has changed the definition of library. With not just books, but movies, games and toys, the Bookmark Library is attempting to cater to all. The Aundh outlet of Bookmark is centrally located across from Chroma. The library is crowded with bookshelves displaying the books and magazines and books face up rather than by the side jacket cover. The one table to sit and browse is always busy with people reading. The books in this outlet are mostly popular fiction with authors such Dan Brown, Sydney Sheldon and Georgette Heyer. All trendy books such as the “The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari,” “Chicken Soup for the Soul” and “White Tiger” are a few of the most popular checkouts at the library. The selection of young adult and children’s books is limited but there is a large selection of magazines appealing to women of all ages. There is a large Marathi selection, a mix of fiction and nonfiction. If there is a book or magazine that is not available, a request can be made to obtain it from one of the other Bookmark outlets. The assortment of board games is in good condition and is an excellent way to keep children busy on a rainy day without breaking the bank. But this is just one of the many outlets. The library boasts of a collection of above 80 thousands books,10 thousands movies, more than a hundred magazines, 15 thousand games and loads of branded toys. Bookmark sets itself apart by way of rotation of these stocks among different outlets once or twice a month. Bookmark is a chain of recreational libraries in Pune, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Nasik, and Mumbai. In Pune there are outlets in Pimpale Saudagar, Aundh, Pimpri, Bavdhan, and Pashan with others in Kothrud, and Magarpatta to open soon. But no need to worry if there is no library outlet near to you, soon you can register online and get books and movies brought to your doorstep. If connectivity is a problem then register at the library and telephone in your requests. The database is centralized so that books can be obtained from anywhere in the city. Home delivery by booking online is scheduled to begin by the end of this month. Open from 8am to 10pm everyday of the week, the Bookmark Library timings are kept with the schedule of those working in mind. Check for more info on how the register.
